CONCERNS DURING PREGNANCY
• Sporadic contractions (Braxton Hick’s contractions)
• Stretch marks
• Vaginal discharge • Varicose vein
VAGINAL BLEEDING. Often times, this is as heavy as a regular period or is accompanied by pain. This could be a sign of labor or complications and needs to be evaluated. Occasionally, following vaginal exams, intercourse, or during labor, a woman will experience episodes of spotting or bloody discharge. This bleeding is usually a small amount, which decreases in amount over time and gradually turns from bright red to reddish brown.
SEVERE HEADACHE, UPPER ABDOMINAL PAIN, AND/OR CHANGES OF VISION. These symptoms can be a sign of increased blood pressure and are often accompanied by swelling, puffiness, or edema (fluid retention) of face and hands.
 PERSISTENT VOMITING.
FEVER. Temperature greater than 101° F.
SUDDEN GUSH OF “WATER” OR FLUID FROM THE VAGINA. If you experience spontaneous rupture of membranes (breaking of your bag of water) you will continuously leak amniotic fluid. If you think your water has broken, it is important to note the color, amount, and time. You will want to be evaluated by a doctor as soon as possible.
DECREASE IN FETAL MOVEMENTS. Many times you will not notice your baby moving when you are busy concentrating on other activities. However, if you feel that baby’s movement has decreased, or is absent, find a quiet place to lie down, with no distractions. Place hands on your tummy and concentrate on identifying movement. Your baby should have at least six distinct movements in the next hour.
