In Charlotte, North Carolina, there are numerous projects taking shape throughout the city. This steady growth has
prompted Rosendin’s recent addition of our Charlotte office, Division 33. One of the most anticipated projects the new
division has taken on, in conjunction with Balfour Beatty Construction and Spectrum Properties, is the 300 South Tryon
Street office tower. While the project is an impressive addition to the Charlotte skyline, it holds much more significance as it
is the first major project to break ground since the recession.
Already buzzing with excitement, much of the 630,000 square feet of the 27-story office space has already been leased.
The tower is connected to a hotel currently under construction, and features a high-end workout space and a shared,
underground four-level parking garage. The most impressive amenity, however, is the grand view peering over the Romare
Bearden Park and right into BB&T Bank Ballpark.
The city’s surge in construction and a high demand for electricians posed a challenge for this project. At its peak,
Rosendin’s manpower reached 45 men, often working extended hours to deliver the project on time. With this strain on
workforce, prefabrication of panels and under vault duct banks played a key role in maximizing productivity. “quote”
Another hurdle was the intricate lighting package. The complex fixture package extends to the exterior, with the office
tower lined with lights from top to bottom, giving the tower itself the unique ability to change patterns and even display
wording. “quote”. The complex design underwent several revisions and required engineered swing stages in order for the
crew to hang over the building to install.
