The organic materials did not produce satisfactory
results. So, I tried to boil the strips in the solution of
liquid food colors. A little amount would color the strips
brightly.These are non-toxic as well as biodegradable,
but probably not chemical-free.

Upon further research, I found food-grade powder
colors(used for Holi festival in India). Boiling the
powder in water also gave an excellent result. Though
these colors required more time as compared to liquid
food colors, they are absolutely chemical-free and skin-
friendly.
