Page 5 - Bamboo Strip Jewelry Craft
P. 5
The bamboo strip jewelry craft is practised in
several rural areas of South India and East India.
The craft builds a new connection for bamboo in
a fashion context, using bamboo strips which
have been a customary material widely used for
weaving and making accessories.
The existing designs don‘t seem to be
abundantly stylish and fail to attract the
contemporary market, which makes it hard for
ABSTRACT the craftspeople to survive in this contemporary
globalized society. The developed designs make
it relevant for today’s consumer and can aid the
economic development of the craft community.
This is a report on food-grade dyeing of
bamboo strips, materials and form explorations,
and revived bamboo-strip jewelry collections.
This is an attempt to make a little contribution
towards potential outcomes of sustainable
fashion, ethical fashion.
