BAMBOO AS A MATERIAL

           • It grows quickly
Bamboo is the fastest growing woody plant in the world. It can grow up to 24" (nearly 61 cm) a day. It grows to
maturity in just 4-5 years- in contrast to a tree which take decades to mature.

           • It’s strong and durable :
Its some properties are similar to both wood and metal.
Like steel, bamboo can withstand lots of stress while being stretched or pulled. It displays higher tensile strength
than many alloys of steel. It has capabilities for higher compressive strength than many mixtures of concrete. It
displays a higher strength-to-weight ratio than graphite—one of the strongest natural materials for manufacturing
strong and sturdy furniture, handicrafts, and novelty items.

           • It’s a friend of the environment
Bamboo helps promote healthy soil. The plant’s deep root systems protect against soil erosion. Plus, bamboo is
biodegradable and can be composted after use.
One-hectare of broadleaf forest produces 750 Kg of oxygen compared to 1350 kg of oxygen by one hectare of
           bamboo forest.
Bamboo products can be grown without the use of pesticides as opposed to wooden products.

           • Usability
Bamboo products are light and easy to clean. They also are water-resistant and do not stain.
The high silica in bamboo makes it indigestible to termites.
The strength of the culms, their straightness, smoothness, lightness combined with hardness and greater
hollowness; the facility and regularity with which they can be split; the different sizes, various lengths and
thickness of their joints make them suitable for numerous end products/purposes.

Bamboo, the green gold is widely regarded as the super crop and super material of 21st century.
