toencompasshalfoftheinsideofthecelwithorwithoutelectric curentloading.Theedgeoftheintracelularicecrystalgrainwith electric cur rent loading (Fig. 7A) ap peared finer than without electriccurentloading(Fig.7B).Fig.7Cshowsthebrightnesdif- ferenceoftheintracelularicecrystaledgebetweentheimage capturedbeforeintracelularfrezingocuredandtheimagein whichintracelularicecrystalshadocupiedahalfoftheinsideofa celwithorwithoutelectriccurentloading.Itisconsideredthat theedgeofintracelularicecrystalsexistedatthelocationswiththe largerbrightnesdiferences.Whenthemicroelectriccurentwas loaded,thepeaksinthebrightnesdiferencesbecameslightly lowerandmorenumerous,andhadnarowerintervalsbetween them.Itissuposedthatthetethattheedgesoftheforming intracelularicecrystalswithelectriccurentloadingbecomefiner thanwithoutthat.Furthermore,thecharacteristicgrainsizesatthe edgeofintracelularicecrystalwithorwithoutelectriccurent
loadingwereexamined(Fig.70).Thecharacteristicgrainsizeswith electriccurentloadingdecreasedsignificantlytoaproximately 85%at1μAandtoaproximately81%at10μA,ascomparedwith noelectriccurentloading.Itwasindicatedthattheedgesofthe intracelularicecrystalgrainswithelectriccurentloadingwere finerthanwithoutelectriccurentloading.
Thegrowingratesofintracelularicecrystalwithorwithout electriccurentloadingwerealsoevaluatedusingtheareavelocity ofthose(Fig.8).Althoughtheareasofintracelularicecrystals imediatelyaftertheirapearanceinsideacelwerethesame acrosalcolingrates,therelationbetweentheareaofintracel- lularice crystals andwith orwithoutelectriccurentloading becamestatisticalysignificantwithincreasedtimesincetheirfirst apearance.Theareasofintracelularicecrystalswithelectric curentloadingat10msecaftertheirfirstapearancedecreasedto aproximately93%at1μAandtoaproximately78%at10μA,as
