FIRST PEOPLES’ CENTRE
“Come and visit us,” says Mary Wabano, Director of the First Peoples’ Centre and Associate Dean, School of Indigenous Studies. “The First Peoples’ Centre is your home away from home.”
We support Indigenous learners on campus and in their own communities through our community-led programs and partnerships with Aboriginal Institutes.
Similar to many students today, Mary came from a small community in James Bay, and moved to North Bay to attend Canadore College. She knows rsthand how isolating and challenging that experience can be and used this knowledge to help guide how the First Peoples’ Centre now supports students and their families.
