Module 4: Writing with Fluency and Control Teacher’s Guide.
Objective: Correct joining of a short, Rupert the White Sheep letter to a Zac the Grey Sheep
  Lesson plan:
In small groups, seated at a table each child has a Write and Wipe Board and a suitable pen. The teacher has the illustrated Rupert the White Sheep and Zac the Grey Sheep letter cards.
1. Keeping the two card sets separate, lay Zac the Grey and Rupert the White Sheep letter cards face down. Ask two children to pick a card each so they have two letters to join, e.g. i to e. If the children have already completed the ‘dip joining’ lesson they will know r, v, and w are joined at the helicopter line. If they have not covered this lesson plan please follow items 2-3 on page 6 to introduce this concept.
2. Demonstrate on your Write and Wipe Board how to join ito e. Remind the children not to lift their pens when writing.
3. Ask two new children to pick a card and repeat the process above until all the letters have been attempted.
More to Learn:
Key phonetic combinations for this category are: ie, ue, je and ye.
To supplement the learning use the preprinted practice page in the appendix, on page 46.
Support:
If the group has good letter formations they can attempt to join more than two Rupert the White and Zac the Grey Sheep letters in one turn.
