Module 4: Writing with Fluency and Control Teacher’s Guide.
Objective: Correct joining of a Rupert the White Sheep letter to an up and over Georgia the Shetland Pony letter
Lesson plan:
In small groups, seated at a table each child has a Write and Wipe Board and a suitable pen. Teacher has the illustrated Georgia the Shetland Pony letter cards and Rupert the White Sheep letter cards.
1. Keeping the two card sets separate, lay Georgia the Shetland Pony and Rupert the White Sheep letter cards face down. Ask two children to pick a card each so they have two letters to join, e.g. nto g . If the children have already completed ‘joining’ Georgia the Shetland Pony to a Rupert the White Sheep letter lesson on page 12 then they will know r and o are dip joined letters. If they have not covered this lesson plan please follow items 2-3 on page 12 to introduce this concept.
2. Demonstrate on your Write and Wipe Board how to join n to g. Remind the children not to lift their pens when writing.
3. Ask two new children to pick a card and repeat the process above until all the letters have been attempted.
