Module 1: Learning the Cognitive Framework Teacher’s Guide
Objective: Learning eye hand co ordination for cutting to a point
Lesson Plan:
Print off a cutting activity of your choice from pages 44 - 53 in the Activities Manual or IWB202-208 In small groups or within a full class. Make sure a range of scissors
are available.
1. “Let’s learn to cut with scissors.”
2. “Holding the scissors in one hand and the paper in the other, can
you snip along the lines to the dot?”
3. “Remember to stop when you get to the dot.”
More to Learn:
Encourage the children to take their time, and keep looking at the lines and shapes and allow the hand to be guided by the eyes.

The cutting activities get progressively
more challenging and children need to
work through them in number order to master
the skills. It is best to repeat different sheets to ensure the child consolidates their
cutting skills.
• Practicing integration of the hand movements when being guided by the eyes.
