Objective: Snipping with scissors
Module 2: Getting Ready for Writing Teacher’s Guide.

Lesson Plan:
Learning to hold and handle scissors, whilst coordinating a simple squeeze and release to snip paper.
1. On a table provide the children with 4 inch squares of card with a selection of different scissors (including left and right hand scissors).
2. Demonstrate to the children how to hold and support the scissors in one hand, whilst holding the card in the other hand.
3. Demonstrate the action of snipping.
More to Learn:
When working on cutting skills with young children it is good to have a selection of different scissors, especially the easigrip squeezable scissors. Children can then focus on their eye hand coordination without worrying about how to position their fingers in normal scissors.
