barf. There is only one colloquial word to describe this delightful cup of
“coffee” with butter and stevia: sif. Even after 20 glasses of water, it still took
the rest of the day for the disgusting taste to leave my mouth. And, sorry to
tell you, she’s not all that thin (especially with those age-inappropriate
dresses she wears). You see? I’m not that nice – I’m actually rather mean. She
is a real sweetie-pie, but as Banting disciples go, she’s not doing her cause
any justice.
What makes it worse is that to stave off any further cravings, I suppose, she
also smokes. Now how, pray tell, is that form of Banting any healthier than a
potato?
Anyhoo, as my sister always cautions, “Everything in moderation, including
moderation.” No, I would never expect you to go cold turkey. But you may
need to adjust your lifestyle just a tad.
Thankfully, there are ways you can have (half) your cake and eat it too.
Moons ago, Oprah interviewed Mireille Guiliano, author of the hit book
French Women Don’t Get Fat. On the show, she expressed that the French
eat smaller portions, walk to the metro, and enjoy their indulgences – just in
moderation.
So, here it is, the point of this blog post: baby steps to reach your goal. Have
a piece of chocolate, not the whole bar. Cut back on the salt, but have just a
pinch. Alternate between potato and sweet potato. Have a salad. Take the
stairs, not the escalator. Remember, it didn’t take you 10 days to gain the
weight, so don’t expect to lose it overnight.
Good luck! Hope to catch you on the other side of 300 pounds…
