shopping
buddy, items, stocking shelves, filling “Order Ahead” orders,
bagging retrieving carts and anything else that was needed. A
steady stream of customers passed through the doors
for the entire shift, which made the time fly by. Afterward,
we were able to relax and socialize in the community
room and enjoy a pizza lunch. Maria Montaro, Corporate
and Community Giving Manager at the Food Bank,
joined us for lunch. She also thanked us for coming and
said this work could not be done without the support of
volunteers. Every volunteer hour accounts for about 100
meals. It would take 34 full-time staff to do the work the
volunteers do. The Market needs about 40 volunteers
every day to run and function. Close to 200 families
come out to receive food. We then presented her with a
GCU check in the amount of $500. to be used for the
00
upcoming holiday season. The day was both a fun and
rewarding experience.
