      OUR NETWORK United Way of North Central Massachusetts partners with agencies and effective programs that create fundamental change in our community. Below are the funded organizations and programs for the Fiscal Year of 2018 - 2019. AMERICAN RED CROSS OF CENTRAL MA Disaster Relief and Social Services – Provides food and shelter in emergencies, operates the largest food pantry in New England, teaches lifesaving skills, trains nurses’ aides and certified nursing assistants, serves members of the Armed Forces, and more. All assistance from the American Red Cross is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money. ARC OF OPPORTUNITY IN NORTH CENTRAL MASSACHUSETTS, INC. Family Support and Advocacy – Provides information/referral for community resources, support groups, arts and recreation activities, and sibling support workshops to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and their families. Services are designed to reduce family stress and to enable parents to provide for their developmentally disabled loved one at home, keeping the family healthy and intact. BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF FITCHBURG AND LEOMINSTER Power Hour and Summer Brain Gain – An after school and summer program designed to engage youth in learning, encourage academic success, and teach youth to become lifelong learners. BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF LUNENBURG, MA Project Learn – Specifically designed to work with the “Power Hour” program to develop positive and effective study habits while addressing and decreasing behavioral problems during school hours through learning successful methods of information retention through a reward system. CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF THE DIOCESE OF WORCESTER Basic Life Skills & Emergency Assistance – Provides Emergency Material Assistance (food, clothing, shelter) to individuals and families in need. CHILDREN’S AID & FAMILY SERVICES, INC. Strengthening Families Collaborative – Provides support to at-risk families throughout the region through collaboration with Strengthening Families Alliance (15 collaborative partners including CAFS). 2019 YEAR END REPORT 6
