A Life Well Lived
On August 14, 2022, we said good bye to an
extraordinary friend, Pauline (Paulie) Emilson. I met
Paulie early on in my time here at the Phil and she
quickly became a good friend both to me and to the
Phil. For health reasons, Paulie was unable to come to
the regular concerts, so I invited her to join me for the dress
rehearsals. It was a joy for me to sit with Paulie and her husband Herb and
quietly discuss the music. She was a true fan and I enjoyed that special time we
got to spend together. She is missed.
Paulie’s husband, Herb and her daughter, Karen McArdle along with Karen’s
husband Doug continue to be involved with the Phil. Karen is a valued board
member and Herb a trusted advisor. The Emilson Family continues to make the
world a better place, and we can all learn from their example.

Paulie Emilson donated to South Shore Hospital,
Hanover YMCA, leaves legacy of giving
By Ruth Thompson, wickedlocal.com
Pauline “Paulie” Emilson was happiest being with her family, working in her
gardens, or exploring the outdoors enjoying the beauty of nature. A quiet,
thoughtful woman who preferred keeping a low profile, few would guess that
she, along with her husband, Carl “Herb” Emilson, was a noted South Shore
philanthropist.
Though the Emilson name is synonymous with giving, and graces a building at
the South Shore Hospital, and the YMCA in Hanover, just to name a couple of
the organizations who have benefitted from the family’s generosity,
Emilson and her husband lived what some might call a simple
life of faith, family, and a tight group of friends, and were
always grateful for their blessings.
