learning experience as well as listening pleasure.
A similar format was used for the serenade’s program,
minus the lunch, but with lots of comfort. “We brought the
music to them,” says Kim Corben.
Musicians played 15 minute mini concerts for residents
living on each face of the building before moving to the
next side. Residents sat on patios or enjoyed the music
through open windows, from the safety of their own
home.
Residents shared their appreciation with enthusiastic
applause. As Anne Howarth, the Phil’s principal horn player
shared, “To be able to make music with and for people in
a time of disconnection feeds the soul.” Yes, a perfect day
indeed.

A Musician’s
Performing again with my fellow Phil musicians felt like being reunited with family after Thoughts
a long absence, or dancing with my favorite partner. It felt like a cool glass of water after
a hot day in the garden. After years of making music together, we all know each other,
and each other’s playing, very well. Despite the time apart, it felt easy to play together. It
was rejuvenating to reconnect with some of my favorite colleagues. ~Anne Howarth
