        Gulf Indian High School observed the Health and Wellness Week from 14.4.19-18.4.19-an

        initiative to focus on student health and wellness.

        ADDING COLOR TO SCHOOL MENU
        Students were informed to bring only healthy Tiffin and encouraged to eat more fruits
        and vegetables. “Adding color to school menu” is an innovative project launched by GIHS

        in 2018to direct them towards healthy eating habits. Students were asked to include one
        fruit and one vegetable every day according to the color code in their school menu.
        Fruit  and  vegetables  fall  into  five  different  color  categories:  red,  purple/blue,  orange,
        green  and  white/brown.  Each  color  carries  its  own  set  of  unique  disease  fighting
        chemicals  called  phytochemicals.  It  is  these  phytochemicals  that  give  fruits  and
        vegetables their vibrant color and of course some of their healthy properties.
