작가노트(Artist's Note)

풍경화 화가로서 내가 바라본 세상에 대한 시각을 공유하고 싶다. 완벽함을 추구하는 것은 어떤 실수를 범할까 봐 두려움을 불러일으킬
수 있는데, 그러다 보면 경직된 스타일이 나온다. 나는 완전한 사실적 묘사에는 관심이 없다. 이 두 장의 그림은 특정 풍경을 보고 느꼈던
그 당시 분위기나 환경에 대한 나의 응답이다. 우리 주변의 아름다운 패턴, 색상과 모양 같이 어머니 자연을 더욱 자세히 들여다보고 싶
었다. 내 생각에 그림이란, 70%의 관찰과 30%의 표현행위 같다. 예술가는 자신의 시각을 드러내기만 하는 것이 아니라, 그가 선택한 재
료를 즐겁게 다룰 수 있어야 한다.

As a landscape painter I want to share my vision of the world I see. The quest for perfection can bring with it a fear of
making mistakes which may result in a style which can seem inhibited. I'm not interested in pure representation. These
two paintings are about my response to the mood and atmosphere generated by the landscape. I wanted totake a closer
look at Mother Nature and see the glorious patterns, colour and shapes which are all around us. Painting is I think, 70%
observation and 30% application. An artist should not only reveal their vision but celebrate it in their chosen medium.
