작가노트(Artist's Note)

이자벨이 선택하는 다양한 주제들은 대부분 동남아시아 문화와 소소한 주변 풍경에 기반을 두고 있다. 그녀에게 디자인과 구성, 색상, 움
직임과 빛은 그림의 전부다. 아시아의 주제들은 그녀로 하여금 가슴에 와닿는 여러 그림 시리즈를 개발하도록 만들었다. 많은 시간 동안
물 위에 비춰진 풍경의 그림자와 반사를 탐구하고, 때때로 더 깊은 곳도 응시하도록 우리의 눈을 이끈다. 이런 풍경들은 대개 공중에서
내려다보는 화면을 구성한다. 하루 중 시간의 흐름에 따른 빛의 변화와 뉘앙스가 투명하게 반영되는 것을 볼 수 있다. 그림들은 주로 보
이는 암시적 소용돌이를 피해 가는 모양새다. 그 대신, 잎, 꽃잎, 나뭇가지, 때로는 돌들도 일부러포함시켰다. 사실적으로 묘사된 추상적
화면구성은 줄곧 감상자의 눈을 이리저리 그림 표면을 쫓아 가게 만든다. 그래서일까, 그 그림들은 따뜻하고 명상적이며 평화로운 느낌
이다.

The diverse subjects Isabelle chooses to paint are based largely on South East Asian Culture and the simplistic environment.
She believes painting is all about design and composition, colors, movement and lights. The Asian subjects have driven her
to develop a few painting series that are close to her heart. She explores mostly the shadows and reflections of landscape
on the water surface or at times, directs the eyes to search deeper beneath. They are mostlydesigned and created based
on the aerial view composition. The shifting of lights at different times of day sees nuances in an almost translucency
setting. The appearance of the paintings eschew any suggestive vortex which are commonly seen. Instead, she included
the scattered leaves, petals, twigs and sometimes, stones on purpose. The abstraction of designs which are represented
in an almost realistic rendering keep the viewers’ eyes darting around the painting surface. Thus, the paintings are warm,
meditative and peaceful.
