PART VII. GRADING SYSTEM AND ACADEMIC RECOGNITION
A. Rationale
In line with the school’s commitment towards excellence, the Grading System
has been based on efficient analysis. The following were considered: putting the
welfare of the students as the ultimate guidepost; the input and feedback by
parents, teachers, and students; the requirements of the DepEd and the
universities our students will likely enroll in; international standards; and our
school vision and mission. The Letter Grade System with the following
equivalent absolute values has been adopted.
LETTER DESCRIPTION NUMERICAL ABSOLUTE
GRADE EQUIVALENT VALUE
VS Very Superior or 96 – 100 4.0
Excellent
S Superior 91 – 95 3.5
AA Above Average 86 – 90 3.0
A Average 80 – 85 2.5
LA Low Average 75 – 79 2.0
P Poor 70 – 74 1.5
INC. Incomplete 0
Students who obtain final grades of LA or P are required to take reinforcement classes
in summer if they wish to be readmitted to Southville International School and
Colleges the following academic year. This is to ensure that they will be able to cope
with these subjects for the year level.
A student who earns a grade of at least A (Average) in all major subjects and
a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 2.25 qualifies for re-enrollment in
S.I.S.C.
A grade of Incomplete (INC) is given to a student who has not completed
his/her requirements in all terms and in all subjects. After completing the
necessary reinforcement activities, their grades will then be changed as
appropriate.
