2.2.3 FUTURE CRUISE LIKELIHOOD
Repeat cruising is a prominent trend among North American & Caribbean cruise travellers, with 8 in 10 planning to take a cruise of two nights or more within the next 12 months.

In terms of future cruise duration, almost half (47%) intend to take a long cruise of 7-13 nights on-board, a similar proportion to those who most recently went on a long cruise.
37% are planning to take a medium cruise with 4-6 nights spent on-board, while 1 in 10 intend to take a short cruise of 1-10 nights. Only 6% are planning to go on an extended cruise, suggesting a move away from extended cruises towards short to medium cruise times.
The Caribbean is the most popular cruising destination, with 62% choosing this region for their next cruise, however a high proportion are looking to travel further afield, with 3 in 10 wanting to go to Europe to cruise the Mediterranean and 1 in 5 choosing to travel to South America. March to June is the most popular time to take a cruise.
Cruising likelihood in the next six months is most prominent among Americans and younger travellers
In future, the incidence of extended cruises is likely to decrease as medium cruises increase; potentially due to a greater number of younger travellers with lower holiday entitlements cruising
While the Caribbean remains popular, travellers are also looking further afield, particularly Europe and South America
