Industry Insider:
Asian Cruise Traveller Duty & Tax Free Retail
2.1.1 CHINESE MAINLAND
Around 82% of Chinese sea cruise travellers recall a Duty / Tax Free service either on-board the ship or on-land at a port store during their most recent trip. Of Chinese travellers aware of the service, a very high proportion go onto make a purchase, with on-board stores being the popular destination.
On-board purchasing being more popular among Chinese is not necessarily surprising due to on-board outlets in the Asian region often being positioned to provide a very high-end, luxury shopping experience designed to attract the Chinese shopper.
