3.1.2.2 SCHEDULED PORT CALLS
Our research suggests that 95% of Asian cruise travellers make at least one schedule port call during their trip. Port stores present significant opportunity for retailers and brands to target travellers with a Duty / Tax Free offering, not only differentiated from the on-board offer but also port stores in different locations to increase sales and drive incremental purchasing.
Drive this through incorporating regional produce and location based souvenirs, Duty / Tax Free exclusives, limited edition products, and location based gifts with purchases into product ranges. In addition, tailor displays and store design to reflect the location.
Singapore is the leading port for scheduled calls, with 20% of total travellers in our sample calling at this destination. This is followed by Hong Kong and South Korean port, Busan.
