As illustrated in the previous section on departure ports, around half of European cruise passengers travel internationally before starting their cruise. This is particularly the case among German travellers:
 British: 55% travel only travel domestically, 45% travel internationally
 German: Just 29% only travel domestically with 71% travelling internationally
 Italian: 64% only travel domestically, 36% travel internationally
With the much higher proportion of German cruise passengers travelling internationally prior to their cruise, it is somewhat expected that German’s are significantly more likely to fly internationally to get to their departure port. In contrast, British and Italians are significantly more likely to travel to their departure port using their own vehicle, with British travellers also being significantly more likely to travel by taxi.
