Sports Psychology is a semester social science elective. This course will provide students with knowledge about psychological factors that affect performance in sports such as motivation, concentration, focus, confidence, anxiety, and relaxation. Students will also be introduced to mental skills that will enhance performance, make athletic participation more enjoyable, and learn skills that can be transferred to other aspects of their lives. Specific skills to be covered in this class will include: how to set measurable goals and strategies to achieve them, visualization and imagery techniques, leadership, team-building, and how to best cope and recover from injuries.
Comparative World Religion  (one semester course) *Student must choose 2 one semester courses

This course is designed to give the student an introduction to study of World Religions. The essential questions for each religion will be asked; What is the Human Condition? Where are we going? How do we get there? In addition the basic foundations for each religion will be studied, followed by its development and diversity, and current issues faced by followers of the faith. Special emphasis will be placed on analyzing sacred text source documents, and how to reduce the violence caused by religious tensions.

Sociology is a general introduction to the scientific study of the influence of group life on human behaviors. It is an excellent choice for students who enjoy psychology/behavioral sciences and are thinking of a career working with people. Topics range from culture, norms, collective behavior and crime to the family, love and the life cycle.
