Dinuba police officers arrested a wanted parolee on May 10 after responding to a physical
altercation at the AMPM Gas Station.
Shortly before 2 a.m. Friday morning, the Dinuba Police Department received a call of subjects fighting in
block of South Alta Avenue. Upon arrival, police say officers observed subjects getting into a vehicle, attempting to flee the scene.
While fleeing, police say the vehicle backed up into a gas pump cement barrier before going forward and narrowly missing a Dinuba police officer, who was on foot attempting to subdue the suspects.
According to officers at the scene, the driver of the vehicle then lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a light pole in the parking lot. The driver, who police identified as
Joseph Madrid, 30, of Dinuba, reportedly got out of the vehicle and ran in an attempt to evade officers.
Madrid was then apprehended nearby by other police officers responding to the scene. After taking him into custody it was discovered that he was a wanted parolee.
Located at the scene was a male victim who had been stabbed in the neck area during the altercation. He was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Police say Madrid also sustained injuries as a result
of the collision and was also transported to a local hospital.
Madrid was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Bob Wiley Detention Facility on May 10 and is facing two felony charges, for parole violation and attempted murder. He was also charged with obstructing and resisting a public officer, a misdemeanor.
The case is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the Dinuba Police Department at 591-5911 or 591- TIP1 to remain anonymous.
