Dinuba woman sentenced for practicing dentistry at home

On Tuesday, Oct. 9 in Department 3 of the Tulare County Superior Court, Visalia Division, Judge Nathan Leedy sentenced Irma Cardenas, age
Irma Cardenas
57, of Dinuba, to 30 days in jail and 30 days of community service after she pleaded to one misdemeanor count of practicing dentistry without a license and one misdemeanor count of dissuading a witness.
On October 23, 2016, Tulare County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Cardenas’ Dinuba residence because of a report of someone practicing dentistry in the home.
During the course of the investigation, deputies observed a dental chair and numerous dental supplies and equipment in one of the bedrooms, as well as an appointment book.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Paul Clark of the Consumer Crimes Unit and investigated by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.

Monday, October 1
• The smell of natural gas was reported in the 1700 block of South Greene Avenue at 8:02 a.m.
• A hit and run was reported in the 6700 block of Avenue 416 at 9:11 a.m. Property damage was reported, with the incident occurring possibly over the weekend.
• A bank card was reported stolen in the 400 block of North K Street at 9:31 a.m.
• A female was heard screaming in the 500 block of North K Street at 11:48 a.m.
• A female was assualted by a male subject in the 200 block of South J Street. It was reported at 12:27 p.m.
• A three-year old boy was found crying for his mom in the area of San Antonio and Crawford avenues at 2:04 p.m.
• A license plate was reported stolen in the 600 block of Euclid Avenue at 4:35 p.m.
• A female in a red Cougar hit a parking lot curb and got stuck at the AMPM on South Alta Avenue. It was reported at 8:24 p.m.
• A suspicious subject was reported in the 500 block of North Crawford Avenue at 9:36 p.m. The subject was reported as a slim male wearing a dark shirt and shorts, a baseball cap.
Tuesday, October 2
• Blood was found on the sidewalk in front of a business in the 100 block of North L Street. It was reported at 9:44 a.m.
• A suspicious subject was reported in the area of Newton and Northridge at 2:34 p.m. The subject was reported as a
white male wearing blue jeans. He was reportedly looking into someone's boat and going onto private property.
• A suspicious vehicle was reported in the 100 block of West Merced Street at 5:08 p.m. A maroon van with a female inside was reportedly parked in a car port for approximately five hours.
• A reckless driver was reported near the dog park on Nebraska Avenue. A 2001 blue Honda Civic was reportedly passing vehicles on the shoulder in a no pass zone.
• Vandalism was reported in the 700 block of North Alta Avenue at 6:33 p.m. The victim's boyfriend reportedly broke her vehicle's windshield and then fled the scene.
• A lap top was reported stolen in the 1000 block of North Alta Avenue at 6:35 p.m. The item was reportedly stolen by a male wearing a burgandy hat and was last seen heading towards the Texaco gas station on North Alta Avenue and Sequoia Drive.
• Harrassment was reported in the 1100 block of West North Way at 8:12 p.m. The victim stated that the subject tried to run over her daughter on purpose in a gray PT Cruiser.
• Reckless drivers were reported in the 2100 block of East El Monte Way at 9:04 p.m. Subjects were reportedly racing in the parking lot near Jack in the Box.
Wednesday, October 3
• A suspicious vehicle was reported in the 900 block of East Academy Way at 5:27 p.m. Two males were reportedly parked in a red two-door vehicle, one wearing a red beanie.
• A traffic collision with possible injuries was reported in the intersection of Avenue 400 and Road 74 at 8:17 a.m.
• Domestic violence was reported in the 700 block of Euclid Avenue at 11:17 a.m.
• A vehicle fire was reported in the 8400 block of Avenue 406 at 2:32 p.m.
• A large gathering of eight to ten male juveniles was reported in the 1300 block of Park Way at 3:47 p.m.
• An assault was reported in the 100 block of Palm Street at 4:07 p.m. The assault reportedly occurred at the Recreation Department (Roosevelt Park).
• A neighbor problem was reported in the 400 block of South L Street at 4:53 p.m. A neighbor reportedly almost hit a child while driving a vehicle, and was believed to be intentional.
• A black "MK" wallet was reported stolen in the 700 block of West El Monte Way at 8:30 p.m. The victim stated her wallet was taken from her cart while shopping at Walmart.
• A transformer exploded in the 800 block of First Avenue at 9:08 p.m.
Thursday, October 4
• A fire was reported in the 200 block of South California at 4:23 a.m.
• An unwanted person was reported in the 300 block of South L Street at 3:55 p.m. The subject was reportedly in possession of stolen bike parts and was wearing a Raider shirt and shorts.
• An intoxicated male was reportedly in the men's bathroom at Rose Ann Vuich Park at 8:55 p.m.
• A noise complaint for loud drilling was reported in the 100 block of North O Street at 9:38 p.m.
Friday, October 5
• A large German Shepherd was running around loose in the area of Flake and Sierra at 1:58 p.m.
• An angry homeless man was reportedly cussing at people near a bus drop-off at North Alice Park. It was reported at 2:22 p.m.
• Subjects were reportedly drinking between the fields at Roosevelt Park. It was reported at 3:28 p.m.
• A snake was found in the 1500 block of East El Monte
Way at 5:18 p.m.
• An assault was reported in
the Entertainment Plaza at 11:38 p.m.
• A public disturbance was reported in the 1700 block of East El Monte Way at 11:43 p.m. The disturbance was between three subjects at Liquor Locker, two in black and one in red.
Saturday, October 6
• A noise complaint for loud music was reported in the 1500 block of East El Monte Way at 12:05 a.m. The music was reportedly coming from Cameron Pelado.
• An unwanted person was reported in the 1000 block of North Bates Avenue at 1:32 and 1:52 a.m. A subject, reported as "granddaughter's boyfriend", was reportedly throwing rocks at a residence.
• A tire was slashed in the 1500 block of Florence Avenue. It was reported at 2:31 a.m.
• Shots fired were reported in the 900 block of Park Way at 2:46 a.m.
• A Chevy Silverado had its tires slashed in the 500 block of East Yale Avenue. It was reported at 5:52 a.m.
• A theft report involving multiple items was made in the 200 block of South Palm Street at 4:12 p.m.
• Officers were called out to 13 noise complaints on the evening of Oct. 6. The first call came in at 7:43, witht the last call coming in at 11:58 p.m. Twelve of the calls were for loud music. One call was for construction work at 10:16 p.m.
Sunday, September 23
• A person was stabbed in the 1300 block of East Olive Way It was reported at 12:06 a.m.
• Shots fired were reported in the area of Tulare and I streets, possibly coming from a blue Chevy pickup. It was reported at 3:07 a.m.
• An assault was reported from the Kaweah Delta Hospital ER at 5:38 a.m. The assault reportedly happened near Wilson School.
• A suspicious subject was reported in the 200 block of South J Street at 11:27 p.m. The subject was reportedly on a bike, looking into vehicles.
Mario Florentino Cabrera
Mario Florentino Cabrera, a resident of Cutler, died October 7, 2018. He was 66.
He was a sales manager.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 15 at 9 a.m.
at Dopkins Chapel followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. at Smith Mountain Cemetery.
Surviving family members include a spouse, a son, three daughters, 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Dopkins Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.

The Dinuba Sentinel was established on Feb. 11, 1909, then succeeding the Orosi Offer which was established on April 21, 1902, and on Jan. 15, 1917, the Dinuba Advocate. The latter, when established, absorbed The Traver Advocate, which was established Oct. 9, 1875. The Kingsburg Sentinel, which was established on Feb. 20, 1947, consolidated with the Dinuba Sentinel on Aug. 28, 1951. Reaffirmed as a legal publication under California statute and Tulare County Civil Code No. 19523 on April 2, 1928.
She was a long standing member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Dinuba and Auntie to everyone.
Lydia enjoyed serving her church, family and community.
She is survived by many loved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held, Sunday, October 14th at 10:30am at the Dinuba Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
A Private family burial will be at the Seventh-Day Adventist Cemetery in Dinuba.

Mr. Jon William DeYoung, born on August 16, 1935 in Fresno, California, to the late Letha DeYoung and the late Jack DeYoung, passed away at age 83 on September 29, 2018 in Folsom, California. He was in the Manufacturing industry at MAF Industries as a General Manager until retiring in 2001. Jon was the beloved husband and best friend of Kay DeYoung for 59 years. He was preceded in
death by his sister, Barbara Anger. Jon is survived by his son, Jace Borba; daughters, Jennifer Guzman and Julianne Ries- sen; brother, Michael DeYoung; and sister, Karylee Edholm. Beside Jon’s love for golf, his real passion was sharing the word of God with others.  e family invites donations in Jon’s name to Bill Glass Behind the Walls, prison ministries in your local area in lieu of  owers.
