Mid Valley Times region cities in Tulare County have seen very little new active cases, and for the most part that trend continued for another week. But there was a jump in new ac- tive cases reported in Dinuba; nine in the past week.
Updates for commu- nities in Fresno County have not been released on the county's website since early this year, and the only semi-steady up- dates in regions have been the case incidence rates in zip code areas.
It's now nearing a month since all county areas in Reedley, Sanger, Orange Cove and Parlier have reported incidence rates below the mini- mum 25 level for record- keeping.
Testing numbers for COVID-19 in Fresno in- creased by nearly 20,000 for the week, surpassing
pills (Paxlovid or Molnupiravir) all in the same location.
“Test to treat means individu- als who seek COVID-19 testing services can be connected to treatment services sooner, which decreases the chances that per- son will end up in the hospital or die from COVID-19,” says Dr. Rais Vohra, Fresno County In- terim Health Officer. “Starting therapy early is key to decrease the health burden from this dis- ease.”
The test to treat model works by utilizing COVID-19 testing sites as a connection point for treatment. Services offered at
Test to Treat sites are intended to provide access for people with- out insurance or who are unable to obtain timely testing and treat- ment through their usual health- care provider. Services will be free of cost at OptumServe sites but individuals should ask about fees when calling non-Optum- Serve Test to Treat sites.
The FCDPH would like to re- mind residents that COVID-19 treatments are not a substitute for COVID-19 vaccines.
