After being held scoreless in the first half, the Reedley High Pirates outscored the Si- erra Pacific High Golden Bears 21-6 in the second half to earn a hard fought 21-12 win on Aug. 24 at Sal Gonzalez Field.
The Pirates are now 1-1 on the season and will play Di- nuba High School on Friday, Aug. 31, at Sal Gonzalez Field .
“Sierra Pacific was a tough team. They stacked the box on us and were forcing us to throw the ball,” said Bran- don Nagle, Reedley High head coach. “In the second half we kept running and the holes started to open up.”
The win was the pro- gram's first non-league win since 2011.
“This is huge.,” Nagle said. “We still have a lot to work on but I am excited and happy for the guys. All the credit
goes to them. We played as a team and we won as a team.” With Sierra Pacific ahead
6-0, Reedley High scored on its first possession of the sec-
ond half to take a 7-6 lead. Gannon Gabaldon con- nected with Israel Vildosola for a 5-yard touchdown pass to cap a 14 play, 60 yard drive that took seven minutes off
the clock.

Max Alvarez then took the first play of the fourth quarter and scored on a 49-yard touch- down run to extend the Pirates lead to 14-6 with 11:50 left.
“This gave us a lot of confi- dence. Sometimes when we are grinding the players don't think it will happen,” Nagle said. “Our guys relaxed and we finished.”
