Athletics News
Girls Frosh/Soph, JV and Varsity Volleyball Teams com- pete today at 4 p.m. at Imman- uel against Exeter Union High School. Tomorrow, our jv and varsity football teams have an away game against Quincy Junior/Senior High School. JV kicks off at 5 p.m. Varsity at 7 p.m. Sep. 7, Girls tennis competes in the California Girls Tennis Classic, and Girls Varsity Volleyball competes in the Madera Classic. Sep. 8 our Coed Cross Country Team will run the Kingsburg 2-mile
at 8 a.m.
Rally Day
We welcome Immanuel families and friends to come to our Rally Day Sep. 22. Join us for a time of celebration of the new school year and two inductees into our Hall of Fame, hear this year’s fo- cus “For His Glory”, partake in a delicious free meal and so much more. There is no charge for this special eve- ning. We hope you will plan to attend.

Jog-a-Thon
Our First Fundraiser is around the corner! This is a great event where the Stu- dents walk, jog, or run to show support for our school and raise awareness of the im- portance of having an active healthy lifestyle with positive choices.
For this event we ask sponsors to support our ef- forts by pledging donations. Pledges can be made on an "amount per lap" basis or can be collected at any time as a flat donation.
Our school uses all funds raised to directly benefit St. La Salle Students in the class-
rooms and throughout the school.

Public Media Release for Free & Reduced-Price Meals
St. La Salle School an- nounces its policy to serve nutritious meals every school day under the National School Lunch Program Effective Jul. 1 through June 30, 2019, chil- dren are eligible for free or reduced-price meals if the household income is less than or equal to the federal guide- lines.
Applications will be sent to the household with a letter about the free and reduced- price meal program. House- holds that want to apply for meal benefits, must fill out one application for all children in the household and give it to the nutrition office at 404 E. Manning Ave. Reedley, Ca. 93654. Contact Trisha Argot at (559) 638-2621 for help fill- ing out the application. The school will let you know if your application is approved or denied for free or reduced- price meals. Safe Environment Train- ing
The Diocese requires all volunteers to be “Safe Envi- ronment Cleared”. No one will be allowed to participate in school sports, field trips, class parties, etc., until they have been cleared through the Diocese. The following requirements must be met before volunteering:
*Fingerprinted: You must be fingerprinted through the Diocese of Fresno.
Please pick up the form in the front office. This is done only one time.
*SE Training: You must complete the online course Protecting Children in the 21st Century. The website is https://safeandsacred-fresno. org. Print the certificate and bring it to the school office with $10.00. You do not have to complete this course every year.
*Code of Conduct: Sign and return the Code of Conduct to the school office. This must be done every school year. Copies are available in the school office.

Choice Books is a nation- wide non-profit book distribu- tion company that Wall-Buhler said, “aims to put inspirational reading in the general market- place.” She said readers often discover that the authors are relatable and experiencing circumstances much like their own.“It’s just plain good read- ing,” she said.
Wall-Buhler said proceeds from this year’s fund raiser will go toward more book dis- plays across the state. Right now, Wall-Buhler said there are more requests for displays than Choice Books can pro-

Choice Books is nationally headquartered in Harrison- burg, VA and sells more than 5.1 million books annually. The organization is associated with Mennonite/Anabaptist churches in the United States.
The west coast office was opened in a small home in 1997 by three people. Today,
the west coast division oper- ates from an office on Reed Avenue and is run by 11 paid staff members and 30 volun- teers, including truck drivers.
In addition to local book displays, readers can find bargain books at the Reed- ley office. Each year, Choice Books also sets up a booth at the Fresno County Fair in Oc- tober where books are sold at a discounted price.
The Choice Books west coast fund raiser will take place on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 6:15 p.m. at the Wedgewood Banquet Center in Fresno.
