Sentinel staff report
All season long, Orosi High’s tennis team was led by junior Jasmin Andrada and sophomore Carla Torres. The two players were No. 1 and No. 2 singles for the Cardinals and it was only fitting they were the top doubles team.
Andrada and Torres played in the Central Section Central Area Tournament last weekend in Visalia falling in the second round to the No. 2 seeded team of Autumn Lee and Samantha Rostro of Sanger, 7-5,6-1.
Orosi coach Nick Cabututan said he was pleased with their effort.
“They played excellent and made it to the second round,” Cabututan said.
Andrada and Torres opened the tournament with a hard fought 6-4,4-6,6- 2, win over Woodlake’s top doubles team of Gizelle Castillo and Monique Romero.
Cabututan said next year the team will be better after showing much improvement this season.
“It’s a young team and we’re hoping to do a lot better next year.”
