A Jan. 27 structure fire that began in a clothes closet caused about $90,000 in damage to a residence in south Reedley and also dis- placed a family of four.
The blaze broke out around 9:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of South Klein Avenue, and burned for about 30 minutes before fire crews were able to get the blaze under con- trol, according to the Reedley Fire Depart- ment.
The first crews to respond encountered heavy smoke emanating from the structure, and flames could be seen
through the windows. While the fire spread from the closet to the rest of the structure, an aggressive and well- coordinated attack to suppress the flames prevented an additional $40,000 in damage. No one was injured in the blaze, but there was ex- tensive smoke, fire and
heat damage.
A total of 16 firefight-
ers and rescue personnel worked the scene for about two hours to get the fire extinguished. Chief Jerry Isaak said last week that investiga- tors are suggesting an electrical issue in the closet and attic area was the cause of the fire.
