DINUBA HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL
Dinuba High School sophomore basketball player Ashley Flores is named Athlete of the Week after averaging 13 points per game at the Selma Shootout basketball tournament. Flores scored a game-high 25 points in a 56-50 loss to Sierra and made a game- winning 3-pointer in a 50-48 win over Mission Oak.

Former Dinuba High basketball players Stephanie Cervantes and Samantha Mendoza are making an impact as teammates on the Reedley College women’s basketball team.
Over the weekend, both players made contributions as the Lady Tigers finished the 42nd annual Gilchrist Invitational with a 1-2 record.
Reedley (5-4) opened the tournament held
Former Dinuba High players Stephanie Cervantes (right) and Sam Mendoza (below) are members of the Reedley College women’s basketball team that went 1-2 at the Gilchrest Invitational this past weekend in Visalia. Cervantes reached double figures in two of the games while Mendoza had nine points in 12 minutes of action in a 84-59 loss to College of the Canyons. Reedley was scheduled to play at Foothill College late Tuesday and Cabrillo College in Aptos the next day.

at College of the Sequoias with a 54-51 win over Pasadena City College before falling to Ventura 74-52 on Friday and an 84-59 loss to College of the Canyons on Saturday.
In the win over the Lancers, RC took the lead for good at 52-50 on a lay-up by Cervantes with 58 seconds remaining. Chloe Welch, who made all 14 of her free throws in the win, closed out the scoring by making two free throws with one second left.
Welch led the Lady Tigers with 16 points
while Cervantes finished with 10.
In their loss to VC, Reedley fell behind
26-14 after the first 10 minutes as the Pirates rode the hot-hand of Talia Taufaasau, who had a career high 30 points.
Cervantes chipped in 10 points and Mendoza added nine in only 12 minutes of action.
In the loss to Canyons, the Tigers were cold from beyond the 3-point line as they made 4 of 31 attempts.
