work and effort,” Estala said. “Overall it was a good season. I had lots of fun travelling and playing with the teammates I have played with since we were 10 years old.”
The 14's defeated Santa Maria in the opener of the tournament on July 6, before losing to Madera on July 7. Af- ter a 6-4 win over San Benito in July 8, the 14's were elimi- nated by Santa Maria.
“Even though we didn’t win it all, the only thing that matter was how hard we worked for it,” Estala said. “We played our hearts out on and off the field as we trained to win state. It was an honor making it that far, state was uncharted territories for us.”
Estala shined in a game against Selma on June 23 in the District 3 tournament. He went 4-for-5 with one RBI and also earned the win on the mound pitching five innings, allowing no runs and striking out six batters.
The 14's won the game against Selma 9-0 that night..
“I did all I can and made every play that came my way,” said Estala. “I hit a couple of shots, including one hopping the fence and hit- ting the fence (Reedley High Varsity Field). But defensive wise, I did everything with all

On Oct. 5, the Tigers will play West Hills Coalinga in Coalinga, before hosting Mer- ced College on Oct. 10.
They will play at Taft College on Oct. 12, and host Cerro Coso College on Oct. 17 and West Hills Coalinga on Oct. 19.
The Tigers will play four of their final six games of the sea- son on the road beginning with a game against Porterville Col- lege on Oct. 24. They then will play Fresno City College on Oct. 26, before playing at Col- lege of the Sequoias on Oct. 31. They play at West Hills Lem- oore on Nov. 2.
Reedley College's final home game of the regular season will be held on Nov. 7 against Columbia College.
They end the regular sea- son on Nov. 9 against Merced College in Merced.

Edwards had a video game-like final two weeks of the season, going 21-27 with four home runs and 27 RBI, going a perfect 10-10 at the plate his last week of the season. He went 4-for- 4 against West Hills with a home run and three RBI, then hit for the cycle in his first four at bats and finished 6-for-6 against Taft. He was

my efforts to stop the ball and having to make the effort to make the play everytime.”
Jose Vargas, a player on the 14's, said that he felt he played well during the state tournament. Vargas had one save in the state tournament.
“My performance this sea- son went well,” Vargas said. “I was batting and fielding well, but in some days I was off and didn’t play as expected in game. Everyone had their downsides in the game.”
Marquez stated that he has been privileged enough to coach these boys ever since they were nine- and 10-year- olds.
“The boys gave everything they had,” Marquez said. “We gained some valuable experi- ence and will definitely look for improvements next season.”
Marquez also said he ap- preciated all the support the team received.
“I’m very thankful to the team and especially to all the parents and coaches for tak- ing their time and teaching us the game of baseball,” Mar- quez said. “This year’s run has been awesome. It was a great season, I was in awe of how these boys came along this season. In the end, we were all happy.”

McClurg promoted at FPU
Nate McClurg, former Immanuel High boys basketball head coach, has been promoted to the lead assistant at Fresno Pacific University.
McClurg, who is entering his second season at FPU, was the head coach for Immanuel High in 2016 and 2017.
C. J. Haydock, Fresno Pacific University men's head basketball coach, who also coached at Immanuel High in 2014 and 2015, had much praise for McClurg.
“I've been in this business for 14 years, and I've yet to find anyone with a work ethic like Nate,” Haydock said. “His insatiable quest for knowledge, his care for our guys, his integrity, his basketball ingenuity, and his relentless work ethic continue to make him an incredible asset to our program.”

The success of previ- ous teams and being from a small town is helping moti- vate the 11-year-old All-star team.
“They are aware of the success that previous All- Star teams from Reedley have had,” Rodriguez said. “We are a little town and whenever we go and we are fortunate to play we have to play our hearts out. We want to show them what Reedley is about.”
Rodriguez said that this
team was special because of the chemistry of the players and families.
“They just gel real good together,” Rodriguez said. “They don't have that nega- tivity against each other. The parents were also amazing.”
Members of the Reedley 11-year-old All-Star team were: Cole Betancourt, Gage Betancourt, Alex Rodriguez, Roger Torres, Elijah Garay, Luke Gonzalez, Mason Cis- neros, Micah Vossler, Roman Ocejo, Nate Tamez, Braden Ortiz, Scott Dutcher, Nicho- las Ochoa. Coaches: Lupe Rodriuez, Mike Betancourt, Gilbert Betancourt and Man- uel Tamez.
The Reedley College Tigers women's volleyball team are coming off a 12-12 overall record in 2017. The Tigers ended the season fifth in the Central Valley Conference with a 9-7 record. Reedley College first home will be held on Sept. 12 against Taft College.

Marie Byrd-Harris (Track and Field,
1997–2000)
Harris qualified for the Northern California Finals in the long and triple jump as a freshman. She overcame spine and back injuries suf- fered in a car accident fol- lowing the ‘98 season to set a personal best in the long jump at the Fresno Relays in 2000.
Harris finished second in the long jump at the Central Valley Conference Champion- ships that year and finished third in the triple jump at the Nor Cal Finals to qualify for the state meet in both events.
Harris finished ninth in the long jump and 10th in the triple, capping a year where she was also named an
All-Conference selection She was also the team captain.
Heather Goodman-Morris (Volleyball, 1995–1997)
Morris was a First-Team
All-Conference selection, Fresno Bee Player of the Week, Captain’s Award win- ner, Female Athlete of the Year and was named to the State All-Tournament Team as a freshman. She recorded 27 kills, 18 digs, 3 aces and 2 blocks against Fresno City College.
Helped lead the Lady Ti- gers to a perfect 14-0 in the Central Valley Conference in 1995, the first undefeated conference record in school history.
The Tigers finished fourth in the state tourna- ment, the highest finish in program history. As a sopho- more, Morris added another First-Team All-Conference selection, Captain’s Award and Most Valuable Player honor to her trophy case.
She had 17 kills, 22 digs and two aces against Fresno City, 23 kills, 19 digs and two blocks against Porterville, and 28 kills and 19 digs against COS in front of the largest home crowd of the year. Mor- ris helped lead the Tigers back
to the State Championships.
Brian Tessler (Women's head basketball
coach, 1998–2007)
Tessler is One of the most successful head coaches in school history regardless of sport.
He compiled a 223-100 overall record, 90-30 confer- ence record in ten seasons. He led the Tigers to four Central Valley Conference champion- ships (2000, 2004, 2006, 2007) and three appearances in the State Championships (2004, 2005, 2007).
Tessler was the Northern California Coach of the Year in 2004.
He also was the CVC Coach of the Year in 2004 & 2007. He has had 57 players moved on to four-year col- leges on scholarships from Reedley College and Fresno City College.
