them a lot of credit as they are still battling every week." Senior Chris Gurrola com- piled 167 all-purpose yards, scoring touchdowns on a 53-yard run and 44-yard pass reception from quarterback Matt Tiger. Gurrola finished with 99 yards on just four carries and two catches for 68 yards. He also intercepted
a pass in the second quarter. Sophomore running back Winston Williams broke free for a 72-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and finished the night with 150 yards on four carries. Tiger completed all seven of his pass attempts for 153 yards and three scores. Catching touchdowns along with Gur- rola were senior Derek Wood and sophomore Hayden Col-
lin.
It didn't take the Eagles
long to seize command of the game. Taking the open- ing kickoff, the Eagles went 72 yards in just five plays with Tiger running it in for a 2-yard touchdown. The ex- tra point kick missed, keep- ing the score 6-0 barely two minutes into the game.
The Chieftains (1-7) coun- tered on their first drive with a 29-yard pass hookup to reach the Immanuel 31. But the Eagles defense allowed only four yards the next four plays and took possession on downs.
Two big plays moved it to the Sierra 35, and from there Wood broke free for a 35-yard touchdown run. Tiger passed to Williams for the 2-point conversion to make it 14-0.

Before that, Michael
Hamman kicked a 21-yard field goal.
Sophomore defensive lineman Festerson O. Obas- chan closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter by returning a Gavilan fum- ble two yards for a Tiger touchdown.
The Tiger defense held to just 73 net yards and six first downs while the offense finished with 446 yards and 26 first downs. Nine Tiger receivers caught passes from three different quarterbacks.
Women's golf
Reedley College has already clinched a Central Valley Conference hampi- onship with four tourna- ments still left on the 2018 schedule.
You can also add a championship in the 13th annual Jan High Memorial Tournament, held at the Bing Maloney Golf Club in Sacramento on Oct. 9.
It was the second Jan High title in the last four years for the Lady Tigers, who finished with a team score of 125 points in the Modified Stableford Rules Scoring System.
Leading the way for Reedley College was freshman Serena DiMau- ro (Central), who record- ed a tournament third best point total of 35. Freshman Maddie Caesar finished with 32 points and was fourth overall. Lauren Costa (Reed- ley) and Carley Lindlahr (Sanger) both accumu- lated 29 points for the Ti- gers, finishing in a tie for fourth place.
Volleyball
For awhile on Oct. 10, it looked as if the Reedley College Tiger women’s vol- leyball team might upset the second place team in the Central Valley Confer- ence, the Merced College Blue Devils.
But Merced had other ideas in the Tiger gym, improving to 11-1 on the season with a 25-21, 22-25, 25-11, 25-12 victory.
Reedley and Merced were tied at 9-9 in the third set before going on a 16-3 run to take control.
Kristen Berry (Mina- rets) led Reedley with 13 kills while Brandi Worm- ley (Washington Union) fol- lowed with 8. Houa Xiong (Sunnyside) sang the Na- tional Anthem before the match and recorded 28 as- sists while libero Samantha Rios (Dinuba) recorded 16 digs.

The Central Sequoia League is again load- ed with top teams. Both CVC and third place Kingsburg are ranked by Max Preps in the top five in their division while league champion Exeter is the top team in Division II.
The win over Selma was a team effort for Immanuel, according to head coach Deb- bie Linman. Senior Danielle Jefferies led the Eagles with 13 kills (seven in the first set) and five service aces. Libero Claire Ramirez fin- ished with 14 digs.

Chris Gurrola races down the sidelines for a big gain in the first quarter of Immanuel's 49-0 rout of Sierra on Oct. 12 in Tollhouse. Gurrola had two catches for 68 yards and a 44-yard touchdown, and rushed for 99 yards on four carries including a 53-yard scoring run.
Denomme pass at the Chief- tains' 39. Two plays later, Tiger found Woods for a 30-yard pass hookup and the PAT made it 21-0 to two minutes left in the quarter. Immanuel poured it on in the second quarter with the 72-yard scoring dash by Wil- liams and the Tiger-Gurrola pass TD. Williams added a 2-point conversion catch, and
a missed PAT kick after Gur- rola's touchdown made it 35-0 at halftime.
Gurrol scored on a 47-yard run four minutes in- to the third quarter the first play after forcing Sierra to punt. The Chieftains made just their second trip into Im- manuel territory before Gur- rola ended the drive with an interception. The Eagles then
chewed up clock on a long drive capped by the Tiger-to- Collin touchdown pass with little more than eight minutes to go.
"Our offensive line worked hard all week on our inside running game and it showed," Riddle said. "Michael Kawa- goe led the defense from his inside linebacker spot, and freshman Hector Davila
played well at outside LB in his first varsity action."
Immanuel will try to climb above the .500 mark on Friday, Oct. 19, when it travels to Calabasas in Southern California for a scheduled 7 p.m. non-league game against Viewpoint High School. The Patriots (1-7) are attempting to snap a five-game losing skid.

took a short toss in the right flat and beat the pursuit into the end zone.
Fresno went back ahead early in the second quarter with a rushing touchdown, but Reedley's defense turned away another Warriors scor- ing threat and took over the ball on downs. Senior two-way standout Aguilar then took a handoff around left end and sped down the sidelines for a long touchdown to tie the game at 14.
Reedley returns to Sun- nyside Stadium for a second straight Thursday game on Oct. 18, this time against Hoover High. Varsity kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Pirates then will close out the regular season on Fri- day, Oct. 26, with a home con- test against Sunnyside High School.
