Orosi music and arts to get a boost
Annual Dinuba Sentinel Cookie Contest Winners
Sentinel staff report
The Dinuba Sentinel received several contributions for our 2018 Cookie Contest. After all entries were judged, delightfully by Sentinel staff, the top three were selected as the best of the batch.
First place went to the Carmel Pecan Bars, submitted by Veronica McLaughlin. These were a staff favorite and received a unanimous vote for first place.
Second place went to the Triple Chocolate Chip Cookies by Amelia Medina. It has three different types of chocolate chips. Enough said.
And third place went to the Raspberry Almond Thumbprints by Cynthia Gonzalez. A lot of personal touch went into this entry. Extra points for the hand drizzle.
Their winning recipes are shown below.
The Orosi High School Marching Band, seen above marching in the recent City of Dinuba Christmas Parade, will have plenty to look forward to in the New Year thanks to an early Christmas gift the district received from the state of California. Stay tuned to next week's edition of the Dinuba Sentinel for the full story.

school, it
can be used
to retell
a story,
explain a
situation,
or students
can create
a video to show understanding of a lesson. Stop motion requires the usage of a computer, tablet or smartphone, clay to make their characters, or simple figures like LEGO. Even makers and a plain piece of paper can be used. There are stop motion apps for example, Stop Motion Studio and Lego Stop Motion that can be added to your smart phone and you can create stop motion video at home or anywhere.

The Sentinel Cookie Contest Winners
A new GATE module at Lincoln Elementary this year is Stop Motion. This class creates short films by taking several pictures in a sequence of a person or item, then playing it back in a short film. The film
to complete. In the end, Mrs. Bustamante’s goal is to have each student or group present their end product at an assembly to the school representing the term, “PAWS” which stands for;
Personal Best
Always Be Responsible
Work and Play Safely
Show Respect.
Students have the choice of
making a music video or a stop motion video. Mrs. Bustamante stated that, “I teach the students how to create a stop motion video and a music video, then I give them the task They learn how to work together, develop an idea, then film a stop motion video of their own.”
Daisy Zavala, age 11, is a student that attends the module. “In the beginning, we are creating the script for our character. Each student writes a script of the character making either good decisions or bad decisions of the term ‘PAWS’.”
The students are learning many valuable new skills in this module and will be able to build upon these skills to create more in-depth films and documentaries in future classes and student- based projects.
