apologize for that. I have seen the first hand effect of kids in isolation, lacking social inter- action.
MT — After speaking with the superintendent of Kings Canyon Unified School District and the city manager it seems our rela- tionship with KCUSD is a healthy one. By helping to
fund programs like the af- ter school program it helps to keep a focus on keeping our children engaged and off the streets. I cannot speak on the relationship the city has with other schools other than building relationships to help us run well and symbiotic is important for the community as a whole.
I am happy to see that we spend a quarter of our annual budget on public safety. The
importance of living in a safe community is at the top of my priority list and a continued support of the police, fire, and emergency services should continue.
What would you most like to accomplish as a member of the City Council?
KB — 1. Ensure that our law enforcement is here to stay and have the essentials they need to do their job
successfully. Rather that be monetary, equipment, train- ing, and or positive environ- ment to work in. 2. Economic growth and sustainability. 3. Continued affordable and adequacy housing growth. 4. Continued youth activities.
MT—Iwouldliketo work with city residents, de- partment heads and council members alike in helping our town run efficiently, safe and appropriate to help
raise the quality of living for all residents.
I feel my unique perspec- tive of being born and raised in Reedley, joining the mili- tary after 9/11 and fighting in the war, returning and setting my roots deep, marrying my wife and having my children here, as well as running my business in town can be used and served as a great asset. Above all, I do this for the Lord!

My name is Nancy Hernandez and I have lived in Orange Cove my entire life. This community alongside with my parents has taught me the importance and value of getting an education. It was especially important for my farm working parents since the only language I knew at home was Spanish. This meant the educational system would place me in ELA which is common among farm working families. Being able to receive and secure a great education regardless of one’s background is extremely important so students can achieve their highest potential. The education I received gave me the opportunity to graduate high school and intern for NASA’s Ames Research Center as a JavaScript programmer. I want our students to have the best resources necessary to succeed and achieve their dreams!
