TRAFFIC SENS
ICON Scenario description for LEVEL2
16. SCHOOL BUS
Passing a stopped school bus usually is a violation of traffic laws. School bus stop laws are laws dictating what a
motorist must do in the vicinity of a bus stop being used by a school bus. Generally, if a stopped school bus is
displaying a flashing, alternating red lamp, a driver of a vehicle meeting or overtaking the stopped bus from either
direction (front or back) must stop and wait until the bus moves again or the red light is off. Police officers, school
crossing guards, and even school bus drivers themselves may have the power to wave traffic on, even when a red
light is flashing.
17. U-Turn
To make a U-turn you must enter in the right lane and turn with the right indicator ON. U turns can only be
taken when
• there is no warning sign nearby
• you give a proper indication to other vehicle drivers that you are going to take a U turn either by hand signals or
vehicle indicators
• you confirm through the mirrors that there is no traffic behind your vehicle
• there is no traffic around your vehicle and take U turn only when it is safe
18.Speed breakers
Speed breakers are traffic management devices used near schools, hospitals, toll booths, bridges to ensure that
motorists reduce their speed. Apply clutch and change to first gear just before approaching the speed breaker.
Accelerate over the speed breaker and release the accelerator slowly after the front wheels pass the speed breaker.
