LIVE-SAVERS
St John Ambulance
St John Ambulance has received funding from the Department for Digitial, Culture, Media & Sports to create new opportunities for young people across Northamptonshire. We are working to set up new cadet units across the county including in Thrapston.
Our cadet units enable young people to learn essential life-saving skills as well as having fun and developing their teamwork, leadership and communication skills. But they could not do so without the support of Youth Leaders. We are looking for new Youth Leaders in the area; you will need to be over 18 years, willing to give up a few hours each week (usually a weekday evening) and be prepared to learn, have fun and grow in confidence around energetic, enthusiastic young people. All training and a uniform are provided, and reasonable expenses are covered so no one is left out of pocket. As well as helping to run cadet sessions there is also the opportunity to support cadets at events; and if you wish to, undertake
It’s amazing to see people from different backgrounds all coming together and getting along. It’s really nice to see kids picking up the skills that you and your team have taught them. That’s pretty special. If you’re looking for something that’s worthwhile and rewarding, just do it.

additional training to attend events in your own right as a first responder.
Our inspirational youngsters played essential roles delivering healthcare and supporting local communities with St John Ambulance in 2022. Young people in the Badger and Cadet programmes gave over 45,700 hours of their time providing lifesaving first aid and care alongside adult St John volunteers.
In addition to supporting people’s health needs, young St John volunteers get involved with thousands more hours of activities including fundraising and sharing their first aid skills with their peers. Our young volunteers answered the call to support the thousands of members of the public who descended on the capital during both Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations
in London and just three months later those queueing to pay their respects at her funeral.
St John Ambulance volunteers were recognised for their contribution to the welfare of the country by being invited to take part
in the King’s Coronation; other volunteers including our cadets were on hand in London throughout the day to provide emergency care.
