The Band and Bugles of The Rifles Corps of Army Music
2013 was another extremely busy year for The Regular Band and Bugles of The Rifles. We carried out 164 engagement days in the UK and across Europe. We have travelled just short of 10,000 miles and 36% of
our time is spent delivering music to The Regiment, the MOD and the Nation. Of that 36%, 68% of our work was delivered by
the Marching Band so
bands from Wind bands to Multi-capability bands. This will not affect The Rifles too much other than that we will see a slight increase in Establishment from 31 back to 35 over time. However, due to the rank imbalance at present, The Rifles Band will have seen a 40% turnover in personnel this year which brings its own challenges. I

Foreword from the Director of Music
The Rifles brand of light drill is alive and kicking. Finally, 70% of all band tasks were FINCAT 1 and therefore in direct support of the MOD and Regiment.

am however, adamant that we capitalise on the strong culture and work ethic that we have established and that our new arrivals are quick to grasp the ‘Rifles Culture’ and
Whilst the stats may be a little dry, they do demonstrate the effects that The Band and Bugles of The Rifles have in support
of The Regiment and at this stage I would like to pay testament to our musicians, both CAMUS and Infantry who work extremely hard and often experience many nights out of bed in the course of their duties.
So, looking forward, The Corps of Army Music will go through a huge change this year (2014) as we develop new capabilities in the form of three Contemporary bands and three Brass bands, but also will change slightly some of our traditional
what it means to be a Rifles musician for the time that they are with us.
