Capt Douglas
Crossfit
Since the arrival of the new RAPTC Instructor, SSgt Billingham, and
the new Regimental Admin Officer (RAO), Capt Douglas, Crossfit has
now become a key component of life in 1 RIFLES. In line with one of the Commanding Officer’s key directives and preparing the Bn for the adaptable force of 2020, Crossfit has been programmed in at Coy and Bn PT.
With the team only in their infancy
it entered this year’s Midlands Throwdown in Litchfield. Consisting of 5 Workout Of the Day (WODs)
with multiple team and individual events the Throwdown tested key physical components including power, speed and endurance. Captained by Capt Jim Douglas the team stayed consistent and unfailing and ended the day in 1st place. A big well done to SSgt Billingham, SSgt Wolfe and Cpl Kirkbright.
With early success in the Midlands Throwdown the team will look to capitalise on the additional training and coaching provided by Dragon Crossfit, Cardiff. With more than
30+ soldiers benefiting from the UK’s leading Crossfit team (finishing 4th in the Crossfit Games European regional) the future for the fledgling team and for the soldiers is bright.
