Having taken hold of the Green and Gold reins of Lawson’s Company in September of this year, it was
immediately apparent that I was joining an organisation that was rich in flexibility, adaptability and consummate profession- alism – all virtues which have driven the Battery through a truly diverse and unpre- dictable time. Although often character- ised by frustration and ambiguity, I believe that when we will look back on this year it will stand as an example of how quickly and willingly we are able to adjust and refocus ourselves on whatever task pre- sented itself.
And it has been a remarkably diverse year indeed. The battery reset from Op TOSCA and was posturing itself to be the Air Land Integration Battery to be held at readiness. A good performance on Ex SUNDER- LAND DAGGER showed that 97 Battery was well up to the task.

The rapid onset of COVID 19 meant another quick re-orientation for 97 Bat- tery as the Army and the country at large adapted to the challenge of the pandemic. Nothing demonstrated this adaptability more than a quick reconfiguration from a trade currency and competency exercise in Otterburn to a hastily formed UK resil- ience force.
The next months were dominated by OP RESCRIPT taskings and 97 Battery was proud to be central to the Regiments response to COVID-19, deploying across the North East to spearhead the MTU effort. Working alongside NHS and other agencies, 97 Battery personnel facilitated thousands of COVID-19 tests in a truly frontline role.
As a professional force, 97 Battery never let its core commitments slip and was pre- pared to move onto readiness in support
