the crowd, managing to demonstrate extreme exertion in his face and wildly flailing limbs, while somehow moving almost back- wards in his progress down the track. On the final leg, a sniper who had been lying in wait struck with deadly effect. OC C Sqn and 2IC D Sqn were both struck down in the first hundred me- tres, leaving OC A Sqn to just hold off OC B Sqn for the victory. Well done to C Squadron who came away overall victors.
This was followed by the All Ranks Party in the transformed LAD hangar. A great chance for people to let their hair down and enjoy each other’s company in a relaxed and social set- ting. The aforementioned transformation was brought about by the LAD and the Squadrons, who all grafted long and hard to transform the hanger into a brilliant social venue. Each Squad- ron hosted their own themed bar and the obvious effort put in and excellent venues generated was testament to the pride and healthy competitive spirit that each of them holds in everything
they do. From German bierkeller to Hawaiian beach bar, Peaky Blinders hide-out to a 90s rave or a Cowboy tavern; everyone was able to move through the ages and revel in the experience. A massive thank you must go to the Catering Department who provided the delicious food for the evening.
Sunday morning brought the Regimental Drumhead Parade. Led out by our Old Comrades the entire Regiment followed with lances resplendent. The hard work by the RSM, our drill instruc- tors and everyone in rehearsals really paid off as the Squadrons performed impeccably and delighted the large crowd of family and friends who came to support. The weekend was rounded off with Curry lunches across all messes and the stunning Yorkshire summer sun ensured it was the perfect way to finish off a magnif- icent weekend. We very much hope to welcome as many Lancers as possible, past and present, to the next event in summer 2021.
