SCOUTS
Volunteers needed...
Volunteer with the Scouts? I haven’t got time...
I am sure that is everyone’s first thought when they see an article asking for help. We think that the commitment will take more time than we have, or it’s not clear what is involved and finding out more will tie us in before we are ready.
It doesn’t have to be like that, The Scout Association has always recognised that people have lives – families, jobs and other interests - so our support roles are as flexible as possible.
Volunteering with the Scouts doesn’t just benefit the organisation either – it is good for boosting your wellbeing, developing CV- friendly skills, making friends, and building memories.
We’ll give you the support and training you need to shine, as well as the chance to have
fun, meet new people, and learn skills for life. Whether you want to support young people or if you’re more comfortable planning an adventure from the side-lines, we’ve got a space for you.
Helping young people develop skills for life is only possible thanks to our team of adult volunteers, who support Scouts in a wide range of roles from working directly with young people, to helping manage a local community based Group such as 2nd Thrapston, to being a charity Trustee.
At a time when communities are becoming more divided, we bring people together. When many young people are struggling to find purpose and belonging, Scouts helps them develop skills, confidence, and a sense of hope. We inspire positive futures and help young people find their place in the world by developing the character, employability, and practical skills they need to succeed.
volunteers means that adults get as much from Scouts as young people. Our approach focuses on what you want to
get out of volunteering with Scouts, while respecting how much time you can offer. Over 90% of Scout volunteers say that their skills and experiences have been useful in their work or personal life.
Volunteering is easier than you think. Whether you can spare an hour a month or a day a year, we have hundreds of opportunities both behind the scenes and directly supporting young people. We have roles to fit every life- style and skillset and with full support and training, you can volunteer on a flexible basis.
Not only is it incredibly rewarding and great fun, but you’ll also learn some brilliant skills transferable to the workplace and further education. We welcome volunteers from every community and background. You don’t need to have been a Scout.
You just need to believe in a more positive future and the difference we can make together. Volunteer today and help us prepare more
young people with #Skills for Life and do something that’s #GoodForYou too.
