MIDLANDS
LIGHT INFANTRY AND RIFLES ASSOCIATION
Annual Reunion
The decision to cancel this year’s reunion was not taken lightly, but the safety of the members was paramount.
No-one can be sure what the future will bring but we remain positive and planning for the reunion in 2021 (19th June) will begin in
a few months’ time. Tickets will be available from December onwards through the usual channels, all tickets purchased for 2020 will be honoured for the next reunion.
Please keep up to date with the latest infor- mation as it becomes available, on the reunion site (lightinfantryreunion.co.uk) and battalion sites and Facebook pages.
Of all the Regimental mottos, perhaps that of the KSLI is most appropriate at this time: Aucto Splendore Resurgo (I rise again with increased splendour).

Shrewsbury Branch
The year 2020 started brilliantly, January, February and March’s monthly Committee Meetings, plus Social Nights where excellent and really well attended. 95 branch members took the opportunity and renewed their yearly £5 membership fee, but sadly during March (COVID - 19) hit the country.
The Branch Committee members have been excellent, reporting into each other when they have contacted and spoken to our more frail and elderly members and we are confident that our members are all well and not wanting for anything.
In summary it’s been a torrid and difficult time for us all. Our thoughts go out to anyone who has been affected by COVID–19. Please just be vigilant and very soon the good times will be with us again.

Our meetings were suspended due to the corona virus pandemic lockdown and economic issues. We are unsure if our normal meeting venue will be open again once normality returns?
The Branch being small does not hold formal meetings. But we enjoy each other’s company, the beer, and remembering our service days, trying to put faces to names and the characters and places we served. As we get older the memory fades a little and we repeat the same old stories which seem to get embellished a little each time we tell them. But we love it.
With the formation of The Rifles firmly established and where our Regimental history now lies. We would like to hear from former Riflemen, including any
Light Infantry who may not be aware of our existence to come and join us. We need some younger blood to secure the future of the Branch, to take it forward and keep the Regimental flag flying in the Midlands.
