                                TOWN BAND
Making beautiful music
Recently Thrapston Town Band celebrated 165 years since their first public performance by sharing a celebration cake, cut by Bob Tattersdale who has played in the band for nearly 50 years.
A tea was held on Easter Tuesday 1858 (April 6th), in Raunds and a grand procession which paraded the streets was headed by Mr N Smith’s band from Thrapston. It is likely that this was the first performance the newly formed band gave.
The band has had a very successful 2023 so far, winning the Midlands area (4th section) in
March, and will be representing the Midlands
at the National Brass Band Championships in Cheltenham in September. We will be promoted to the 3rd section in 2024. We have a number
of local engagements throughout the summer to keep us busy and our junior section is going from strength to strength with some of the youngsters sitting in at our rehearsals.
