and our members. Please can I take this opportunity to thank Martyn Fray again
for being such a conscientious Treasurer and always acting so calm – you will be missed in the office. But we would like to welcome in Charles Cameron who has taken over in full sail and so we know
that the finance of the club could not be
in better hands between him and Fiona. Another amazing lady in the office is Jayne who gets everyone out on the water! Her enthusiasm and effort are tireless. We had another sad but happy goodbye this Easter as we waved Clare off onto maternity
leave – a huge thank you for all you did on the administrative side and we wish you and David every happiness with your new little man Max. In the same vein we would like to welcome Mike White into the office who has already had to master Merlin Rocket Week and Regatta – so hit the job running! I would also like to thank Geoff Allen for making us the beautiful outside notice board, the RNLI thermometer and the membership card boxes – they are all perfect!
This year saw my second time of crewing for Woody in Yawl 140 for Town Regatta – we avoided the Fairway and actually came away with winning – but put that down to an excellent Helm rather than a useful crew!
I could and would not end a report without mentioning our Flag Officers and Committee Members who all ensure
this club is run to the best of its ability
and provide its members with a club to
be proud of. I would like to say a huge thank you to Martin Smout who retired as Commodore in May for all his support and to Andrew Savell who took over and has kept me on the right tack.
Please do remember that our door is always open, and we are always happy to discuss anything.
Here’s to another good year!

200 CLUB
REPORT
This has been a challenging year for the 200 Club. We have not seen the repeat subscription we had hoped for and so peaked at 125 members; 75 members short of our 200 target. However, this has brought us £3750 in revenue and we are delighted to have paid out £2250 in prize money leaving £1500 to be spent on the SYC fleet.
The 200 Club makes a vital contribution
to maintaining the fleet and enabling the replacement programme and so your membership is greatly valued. The fleet is there for the use of all members and indeed is used by all members. It is not just for cadets but the whole club. There are so many who use the SYC fleet which is a vital element of our club and in getting people onto the water in the unique location we all know and love.
As a club member I would encourage you to help build the club by getting more people onto the water. I would also urge anyone who has used an SYC boat in the past year to make a contribution to the
fleet maintenance programme and buy a couple of shares in the 200 Club; the price of a tank of fuel. The shares are only £30 and every month you have a chance to
win back your money; First Prize of £150, Second Prize of £70 and Third Prize of £30.
You can join online or just fill in one of the forms by the bar. The 200 Club runs on a financial year and the easiest way to pay is online by standing order.
Please support the club and its ambition to get more people enjoying the freedom of sailing in Salcombe.
