EASTERN BRANCH
Lt Col (Retd) Tudor Quare
The 2013 annual Branch Dinner took place at Bury St Edmunds
Golf Club but this year with reduced numbers primarily due to
sickness causing last minute cancellations. Even Don McBurney,
Branch Chairman was taken out and Don does not miss an
opportunity for a day’s golf very often. The mornings scheduled
Golf Competition, for the George Talkington Tankard, was not
suficiently supported this year and the few that had gathered
earlier in the day democratically decided to give it a miss although
they did play a round of golf of a non competitive nature. Hopefully
next year there will be suficient numbers and it is intended to
encourage women to join in and compete for the George
Talkington Memorial Tankard.
We were delighted to have Jacquie Trainor, the daughter of Maj
(Retd) Chas Trainor who died in 2012, and her partner Chris
Gowers join us this year. Chas Trainor will be missed by the Branch
as he was a founder member and has for many years, regularly
attended all our annual dinners. He was a very good golfer with an
impressive handicap who participated in the golf events. Jacquie
