                                SSI Zara Thorpe
SSI Thorpe has served with A Company, Humberside and South Yorkshire ACF since 2011, starting as Detachment Instructor and later as the Detachment Commander. Over recent months she has progressed
to a Platoon Commander’s appointment where she is responsible for overseeing 4 Detachments. In every aspect of her work within A Company she has excelled.
Externally she has worked with a number of organisations, predominantly as an instructor, and has again proved her worth; she regularly accrues praise from those who she is working for and from the students involved.
COVID 19 has presented everyone one with new challenges, one of which was how to keep Cadets engaged whilst at arm’s length. SSI Thorpe is one
of the most proactive Instructors within the County, producing a variety of on-line training, including virtual parades for her Company. This didn’t go unnoticed and she was subsequently appointed County Virtual Training Administrator. Here she used both her knowledge and imagination to develop County wide virtual training, something that would normally be the remit of someone far above her status.
Flight Lieutenant
Danielle Cooper
Following on from 6 years’ service as a cadet, Flight Lieutenant Cooper has developed into an outstanding officer whose commitment to the RAFAC would only be paralleled by the
organisation’s brightest performers. As the Squadron Commander of 152 (City of Hull) Squadron she was instrumental in the squadron being selected as the Wing’s nomination for the Lees Trophy to be named the best squadron in the country.
Flight Lieutenant Cooper’s dedication and commitment to the RAFAC continues to be demon- strated by, not only the work she puts in supporting the cadets and staff across her two units, but within her additional roles as the Wing Radio Officer, the responsibilities she has to the Wing Shooting Team providing Clay Target Shooting for cadets from across the Wing, the integral success she provides to the success of the Wing’s Annual Field Camp and ongoing exchange programme with the New Hampshire Wing of the US Civil Air Patrol.
Warrant Officer
Sharon Reynolds
Warrant Officer Reynolds has been a member of the RAFAC since 2009 and has held a uniformed position at 152 (City of Hull) Squadron for the last ten years. During her time with
the unit Warrant Officer Reynolds has undertaken a number of roles including First Aid Instructor, DofE Officer, Training Officer and 2I/C. She has attended many activities including at least one annual camp every year, road marching events and shooting
COVID 19 has presented everyone one with new challenges, one of which was how to keep Cadets engaged whilst at arm’s length
activities, squadron run training days, Adventure Training activities and fundraisers. At each of these activities she has made a valuable contribution to each and every one.
Warrant Officer Reynolds is often requested to attend activities and to provide assistance using one of her many skills and qualifications. This is evident in her attendance as part of the British Contingent Support Staff at The Nijmegen Marches on a number of occasions. She has also assisted with the Wing Exchange between the UK and the USA since it began eight years and has played an integral part in the organisation and running of this event. She was also the UK staff representative on one of the UK visits to New Hampshire, USA.
Leading Cadet
Sapphire Witham
Leading Cadet Whitham is everything a Sea Cadet can be, she excels
at most things and gives 100% commitment. She has shown a marked interest in PT and kayaking
regularly taking PT sessions at Hull unit and helping out on District courses. She has also taken part in every offshore course offered to her, undertaking an offshore voyage every year from 2017 by power and sail. She is keen to progress through the cadet rank structure and is on track with reaching PO Cadet; if not for the lockdown this would have been achieved!
She has been the Lord Mayor of Hull’s cadet and been in attendance when Hull was visited by HM The Queen.
Sergeant Morgan Bulman
Sergeant Bulman serves as an exemplary role model for the cadets within her Company and County. The example she sets is always
to the highest standard and her
achievement in terms of rank and Star Level demonstrate how much can be achieved
in a short period of time with determination and commitment. She is an ideal ambassador for the Army Cadet Force, and will no doubt achieve a great deal more during her remaining time within the ACF.
Cadet Warrant Officer
Rosie Gregson
CWO Rosie Gregson has been involved in many activities within the Corps since joining and has always given her best. She has taken on the lead for the Squadron Corps of
Drums, which then led her on to representing the Wing Band and playing with the National Corps Band at the International Military Tattoo at the Birmingham Arena. In the Wing Band she instructs on the side drum and is highly thought of by the Wing Band team. She has completed the Wing Drum Major course
and has taken over as the Wing Band Drum Major.
As a secondary duty she runs the Squadron clothing stores and ensures that the cadets have the correct uniforms, and in addition, has an input into the Squadron programme planning for future meetings.
