Melton Mowbray Honours Service Personnel
Melton Mowbray, a town steeped in tradition and community spirit, came
together on Monday, 21st June
2023, to pay a heartfelt tribute to
the nation’s Service Personnel. The occasion was marked by a solemn ceremony at the Melton council offices, where a flag was raised to celebrate the national Armed Forces, symbolizing a week of appreciation and gratitude.
As the flag fluttered proudly in
the breeze, citizens from all walks
of life gathered to express their unwavering support for the brave people and animals who serve the country. The event saw a remarkable convergence of various military organizations, including the Defence Animal Training Regiment and the esteemed Royal British Legion. Local representatives of the Armed
Forces also participated, showcasing the strong bond between the town and its military community.
The ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, among
them the Deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Group Captain Rory Underwood MBE, and the Mayor of Melton Mowbray, Cllr Alan Hewson. Their presence added a touch
of honour and reverence to the proceedings, reflecting the town’s appreciation for the sacrifices made by Service Personnel.
The heartfelt tribute demonstrated the town’s patriotism and highlighted the strong sense of
